June 2007 - National Safety Month
School is out, backyard barbeques are firing up, we're taking to the roads and it's a great time to focus on safety- at work, at home and at play. June is National Safety Month, and the Department of Consumer Affairs in partnership with the National Safety Council offers you this opportunity to educate yourself and your family about safety.
Each week in June will have its own special focus- Workplace Safety, Driving Safety, Emergency Preparedness and Safety in the Home and Community. Check back weekly for links to websites and resources that can help you have a safe summer and learn safety skills to last a lifetime.
June 4-8 Workplace Safety
Whether you're a teen taking your first summer job, a contractor that works in the blazing summer sun, or an office worker who just can't shake that 'crick in the neck' or lower back strain, this is your week to focus on safety in the workplace. June 18-22 Emergency Preparedness
Having an emergency plan the whole family knows and has practiced is crucial to surviving a disaster. Being prepared for emergencies, both large and small, can help you and your loved ones have peace of mind and make "weathering the storm" that much easier.
There are many ways to be prepared for an emergency. The Department of Homeland Security has an excellent list of 30 tips on how to be prepared.
