California Board of Psychology Appoints Robert Kahane as Executive Officer

SACRAMENTO — The California Board of Psychology has appointed Robert Kahane as its new executive officer. He is scheduled to officially start work on March 22.

"Robert Kahane has the diverse background, education and management experience needed for the job," said Jacqueline Horn, Ph.D., Board president. "The Board is looking forward to working with him as we continue to serve Californians through effective consumer protection and oversight of the profession of psychology."

Mr. Kahane's experience combines both health care and music industry management expertise, with an educational background that includes psychology. For over 25 years, he has had a diverse career working for two major California health care organizations, Kaiser Permanente and Sutter Health; and has had a background in music and music production.

Mr. Kahane, a native of Brooklyn, N.Y., has been a resident of California for the last 30 years.

He received a bachelor's degree in psychology from California State University, Sacramento, in 1994, and a Jurisprudence Doctorate from Lincoln Law School of Sacramento in 2004.

Serving at the direction of the Board of Psychology, the Executive Officer manages enforcement, licensing and consumer-protection operations. The Board licenses more than 15,000 psychologists statewide, enforces the laws and regulations governing the practice of psychology, and works to protect the health, safety and welfare of consumers of psychological services.
