Carrie BAR press conference

DCA Director, Carrie Lopez holds a press conference at the Bureau of Automotive Repair's field office in the Los Angeles area to announce the results of BAR's Unlicensed Sweep. Investigators visited more than 250 suspected unregistered or delinquent auto repair shops in Los Angeles County. During this sweep, 67 shops were found to be non-compliant with California law.

Department of Consumer Affairs Director Carrie Lopez cuts the ribbon to open the Consumer Expo at the PACT Summit. The Consumer Expo highlighted many of DCA's consumer protection programs and offered consumer protection information to visitors.

The Bureau of Barbering and Cosmetology also had demonstrations on proper footspa cleaning. Footspas have been the source of several skin infections in the past few years.

The Department of Consumer Affairs BREEZE booth at the PACT Summit Consumer Expo. BREEZE will allow online licensing and renewal and will greatly streamline the licensing and renewal process. Sherry and Carrie DragNet Car

Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) Chief Sherry Mehl (L) and DCA Director Carrie Lopez (R) stand in front of one of the cars used in BAR's DragNet Program. BAR personnel train law enforcement on how to recognize vehicles whose engines and emissions systems have been illegally modified for street racing, giving law enforcement and additional tool in their efforts to halt dangerous street racing. The vehicle seen here is one previously seized by law enforcement.

DCA Director Carrie Lopez (L) and Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) Chief Sherry Mehl unveiled BAR's Green Station Recognition Program. BAR, in conjunction with the state Department of Toxic Substances Control, will recognize those automotive repair dealerships that use environmentally friendly practices such as recycling hazardous materials.
