Mr. Famalett was appointed to the California Board of Accountancy by Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. in November 2015 and was elected President in November 2018. He previously held the office of Vice-President from 2017-18. Mr. Famalett has been a tax partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP since 2005, where he has held several positions since 1996, including U.S. indirect tax practice leader and specialty partner tax team leader for the San Jose tax practice. Mr. Famalett was an adjunct professor for the California Polytechnic State University master’s degree program in Taxation from 2008 to 2010. He earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, a Master of Science degree in Taxation from Golden Gate University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. Mr. Famalett is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, California Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting.
Mr. Silverman was appointed to the CBA by Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. in January 2014. He was elected Vice President in November 2018. He previously held the office of Secretary/Treasurer from 2016-17 and 2017-18. Mr. Silverman has been an Advisor at Westhaven Therapeutics and Georgetown Translational Pharmaceuticals and Entrepreneur in Residence at the Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business since 2013. He held multiple positions at ScrollMotion Inc. from 2009-2013 including Executive Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer. He was a principal at YQ Holdings Group from 2002 to 2009, Executive Vice-President at US Interactive from 1998 to 2001, and Chief Operating Officer at Digital Evolution Inc. from 1996 to 1998. Mr. Silverman held multiple positions including Vice-President at Coast Converters Inc. from 1981 to 1996 and served as an Attorney Advisor at the Federal Trade Commission from 1976 to 1980. Mr. Silverman earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from Georgetown University and a Juris Doctor degree from the Georgetown University Law Center.
Ms. Corrigan was appointed to the California Board of Accountancy by Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. She was elected Secretary/Treasurer in November 2018. Ms. Corrigan recently transitioned from Singerlewak, LLP where she was a partner and co-owner since 2015. She was a partner and co-owner at Jeffery, Corrigan & Shaw LLP from 1985 to 2015, a manager at Apodaca, Finocchiaro & Company from 1978 to 1985, and a staff accountant at Swenson & Clark from 1977 to 1978. Ms. Corrigan is a member of California Society of Certified Public Accountants, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and previously served on the California Board of Accountancy's Enforcement Advisory Committee, Peer Review Oversight Committee and Qualifications Committee. She is also a member of the California State Polytechnic University's Accounting Department Advisory Council and Advisory to the Audit Committee of Teen Challenge of Southern California. Ms. Corrigan earned a Bachelor of Science degree from California State Polytechnic University in Pomona.
Ms. Berhow was appointed to the CBA by the Speaker of the Assembly in February 2011 and served as President from 2016-2017, Vice-President from 2015-2016, and Secretary/Treasurer from 2014-2015. She has been with the Orange County Business Council since April 2007 and is currently the Senior Vice President. Previously, she served for five years as Senior Field Representative for Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez working on education and health care issues. Ms. Berhow currently serves as a Board Member, chairing Economic Development for the Anaheim Workforce Investment Board, an Ambassador for the Delhi Center in Santa Ana, and as a Board Member for the Community Action Partnership - Orange County.
Mr. Campos was appointed to the CBA in December 2012 by Governor Edmund G. Brown, Jr. and served as Vice-President from 2013-2014 and President from 2014-2015. He is currently a partner at Deloitte and Touche LLP. Mr. Campos serves on the Board of Advisors of the Robert Day School of Finance and Economics at Claremont McKenna College and previously served as Chairman of the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors of AltaMed Health Services. Mr. Campos is a member of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting.
Ms. Hinds was appointed by Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. in January 2016. Ms. Hinds, of Los Angeles, has been a consultant to the Public Policy Institute of Santa Monica College since 2015. She was consultant to the Academic Support Department at Abraham Lincoln University School of Law from 2006 to 2007; a solo practitioner at the Law Office of Karriann Farrell Hinds from 2002 to 2005; an associate at Sedgwick, Detert, Moran and Arnold from 2003 to 2004; and director of development and attorney at the Harriett Bahai Center for Family Law from 2001 to 2002. She was an associate at Robie and Matthai from 1999 to 2001, where she was a law clerk from 1998 to 1999. Hinds is a member of the Los Angeles County Commission for Women. She earned a Juris Doctor degree from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles.
Ms. Geong was appointed to the California Board of Accountancy in August 2018 by Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. Ms. Geong has been principal owner at Mary Geong, CPA, since 2013 and financial advisor at HD Vest Financial Services since 1999. She held several positions at the Franchise Tax Board from 1994 to 2013, including tax auditor, audit supervisor, and program specialist. Ms. Geong was manager of administration at World Savings and Loan from 1989 to 1994 and manager of accounting at the Federal Reserve Bank in San Francisco from 1984 to 1989. Ms. Geong is president of the Oakland Rotary Endowment and a member of the California Society of CPAs Statewide Committee of Taxation and Personal Financial Planning, Piedmont Asian American Club, East Bay Association of Enrolled Agents, Asian Real Estate Association of the East Bay, Ascend Pan-Asian Leaders, Northern California Chapter and Tax Aid. Ms. Geong earned a Master of Business Administration degree in management and a Master of Science degree in taxation from Golden Gate University.
Dan Jacobson, Esq., was appointed to the California Board of Accountancy by the Speaker of the Assembly. Mr. Jacobson has practiced civil litigation law in California since 1988. He has served on the Board of Governors of the California Insurance Guarantee Association and as a Temporary Judge for the Orange County Superior Court. Mr. Jacobson is an Adjunct Professor of Law at Pacific West College of Law, the author of numerous scholarly articles, an expert witness-consultant in the field of property/casualty insurance, and Chair of the Democratic Foundation of Orange County. Mr. Jacobson earned a Juris Doctor Degree from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in 1987. He received his Bachelor of Science in Laws Degree from the same institution in 1986.
Ms. León was appointed to the California Board of Accountancy in January 2015 by the Senate Rules Committee. She is Vice-President of Hispanic Segment Marketing at Wells Fargo Bank. Ms. León is also a member of the Hispanas Organized for Political Equality (HOPE) Leadership Institute 2014, Latinas in STEM2 to Achieve Success (LISTAS), and serves as a Board Member of Arise High School in Oakland.
Ms. Molina Lopez was appointed to the California Board of Accountancy in October 2017 by Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. She is part of the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) research community as a Contracts and Grants Officer and is responsible for proposal review and submission, including the acceptance of grants, agreements, and awards for academic research projects. Ms. Molina Lopez holds delegated authority to solicit and execute contracts and ensures compliance with federal, state, and University of California policies and is a liaison between UCSD and their funding agencies. She previously was a technical proposal writer and manufacturing associate at Ajinomoto Althea Inc. Ms. Molina Lopez is a member of Hispanas Organized for Political Equality (HOPE) and the Parks, Recreation and Senior Citizens Advisory Board of National City. She is a 2017 HOPE Leadership Institute Fellow and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of California, Berkeley, in 2001.
Ms. Nicholson was appointed to the CBA by Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. in July 2017. Ms. Nicholson has been a founding partner at Nicholson & Schwartz since 2000 and was a tax manager at Ernst & Young LLP from 1991 to 1999. She is a member of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants, Santa Barbara Bowl Foundation Board of Directors, and the 19th District Agricultural Association, Santa Barbara Fair and Exposition Board of Directors.
Ms. Robinson was appointed to the California Board of Accountancy in June 2015 by Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. Ms. Robinson has been director of strategic alliances at Golden Gate University since 2007. She was a manager of corporate education at the University of Phoenix, Western Region, from 2000 to 2006; a business manager at Dun and Bradstreet from 1995 to 2000; and a training manager at the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office from 1988 to 1995. Ms. Robinson is a member of the California Advisory Council on Military Education, Society for Human Resource Management, Golden Gate University Human Resource Management Advisory Committee and the CoachArt San Francisco Board and she also serves as vice treasurer of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. Tau Upsilon Omega Chapter. Ms. Robinson earned a Master of Science degree in human resource management from Golden Gate University.
Ms. Salazar was appointed to the CBA in December 2012 by Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. and served as President from 2015-2016, Vice-President from 2014-2015, and Secretary/Treasurer from 2013-2014. In January 2018, she was elected Pacific Regional Director of the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy. Ms. Salazar currently serves as the Chief Financial Officer for the California Correctional Peace Officers Association. She has also served as the Executive Director of the Rotary Club of Sacramento, Chief Financial Officer at the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges and the American Red Cross Sacramento Sierra Chapter. Ms. Salazar previously held several positions in public accounting, including senior audit manager for Reznick Group, and has been an adjunct accounting professor for the Los Rios Community College District. Ms. Salazar is a member of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Mr. Savoy was reappointed to the CBA by Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. in November 2014, and has been a member of the CBA since 2010. He previously held the office of President from 2017-18 and 2013-14, Vice-President from 2016-17 and 2012-13, and Secretary/Treasurer from 2015-2016 and 2011-2012. Mr. Savoy is presently the Treasurer and a member of the Board of the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce and is a member of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Mr. Savoy is also a shareholder at Gumbiner Savett Inc.
Executive Officer for the CBA
Ms. Bowers was selected Executive Officer of the CBA in October 2008. A 23-year veteran of the CBA, she also served as supervisor in the Enforcement Division and Chief of the Licensing Division. Prior to joining the CBA, Ms. Bowers began her career in State civil service as a sworn Peace Officer with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, Division of Juvenile Justice. Prior to joining State civil service, she worked in Sicily as a supervisor for the U.S. Department of Defense, and she worked as an academic coordinator while attending the University of Maryland's European Division in Iceland.
