Ms. Corrigan was appointed to the CBA by Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. in August 2018. Prior to Ms. Corrigan’s appointment, she served on the CBA’s advisory committees for over 15 years, including the Enforcement Advisory Committee, Peer Review Oversight Committee, and Qualifications Committee. She was elected President in November 2019 and Secretary/Treasurer in November 2018. Ms. Corrigan has been a partner and co-owner in two regional and local CPA firms since 1985 and recently transitioned into consulting. Ms. Corrigan is a member of California Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. She is also a member of the Cal Poly Pomona Accounting Department Advisory Board and is an advisor to the Audit Committee of Teen Challenge of Southern California. Ms. Corrigan earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Cal Poly Pomona.
Mr. Savoy was reappointed to the CBA by Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. in November 2014, and has been a member of the CBA since 2010. He was elected Vice President in November 2019. He previously held the office of President from 2017-18 and 2013-14, Vice-President from 2016-17 and 2012-13, and Secretary/Treasurer from 2015-2016 and 2011-2012. Mr. Savoy is presently the Treasurer and a member of the Board of the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce and is a member of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Mr. Savoy is also a shareholder at Gumbiner Savett Inc.
Mr. Silverman was appointed to the CBA by Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. in January 2014. He was elected Secretary / Treasurer in November 2019. He previously held the office of Vice President from 2018-2019 and Secretary/Treasurer from 2016 to 2018. Mr. Silverman has been an Advisor at Westhaven Therapeutics and Georgetown Translational Pharmaceuticals and Entrepreneur in Residence at the Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business since 2013. He held multiple positions at ScrollMotion Inc. from 2009-2013 including Executive Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer. He was a principal at YQ Holdings Group from 2002 to 2009, Executive Vice-President at US Interactive from 1998 to 2001, and Chief Operating Officer at Digital Evolution Inc. from 1996 to 1998. Mr. Silverman held multiple positions including Vice-President at Coast Converters Inc. from 1981 to 1996 and served as an Attorney Advisor at the Federal Trade Commission from 1976 to 1980. Mr. Silverman earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from Georgetown University and a Juris Doctor degree from the Georgetown University Law Center.
Ms. Hinds was appointed by Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. in January 2016. Ms. Hinds, of Los Angeles, has been a consultant to the Public Policy Institute of Santa Monica College since 2015. She was consultant to the Academic Support Department at Abraham Lincoln University School of Law from 2006 to 2007; a solo practitioner at the Law Office of Karriann Farrell Hinds from 2002 to 2005; an associate at Sedgwick, Detert, Moran and Arnold from 2003 to 2004; and director of development and attorney at the Harriett Bahai Center for Family Law from 2001 to 2002. She was an associate at Robie and Matthai from 1999 to 2001, where she was a law clerk from 1998 to 1999. Hinds is a member of the Los Angeles County Commission for Women. She earned a Juris Doctor degree from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles.
Ms. Geong was appointed to the California Board of Accountancy in August 2018 by Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. Ms. Geong has been principal owner at Mary Geong, CPA, since 2013 and financial advisor at Avantax Investment Services since 1999. She held several positions at the Franchise Tax Board from 1994 to 2013, including tax auditor, audit supervisor, and program specialist. Ms. Geong was manager of administration at World Savings and Loan from 1989 to 1994 and manager of accounting at the Federal Reserve Bank in San Francisco from 1984 to 1989. Ms. Geong was past president of the Oakland Rotary Endowment and a member of the California Society of CPAs Statewide Committee of Taxation and Personal Financial Planning, Piedmont Asian American Club, East Bay Association of Enrolled Agents, Asian Real Estate Association of the East Bay, Ascend Pan-Asian Leaders, Northern California Chapter and Tax Aid. Ms. Geong earned a Master of Business Administration degree in management and a Master of Science degree in taxation from Golden Gate University.
Dan Jacobson, Esq., was appointed to the California Board of Accountancy by the Speaker of the Assembly. Mr. Jacobson has practiced civil litigation law in California since 1988. He has served on the Board of Governors of the California Insurance Guarantee Association and as a Temporary Judge for the Orange County Superior Court. Mr. Jacobson is an Adjunct Professor of Law at Pacific West College of Law, the author of numerous scholarly articles, an expert witness-consultant in the field of property/casualty insurance, and Chair of the Democratic Foundation of Orange County. Mr. Jacobson earned a Juris Doctor Degree from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in 1987. He received his Bachelor of Science in Laws Degree from the same institution in 1986.
Ms. León was appointed to the California Board of Accountancy in January 2015 by the Senate Rules Committee. She is Vice-President of Hispanic Segment Marketing at Wells Fargo Bank. Ms. León is also a member of the Hispanas Organized for Political Equality (HOPE) Leadership Institute 2014, Latinas in STEM2 to Achieve Success (LISTAS), and serves as a Board Member of Arise High School in Oakland.
Ms. Molina Lopez was appointed to the California Board of Accountancy in October 2017 by Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. and reappointed by Governor Gavin Newsom. Professionally, Ms. Molina Lopez counts on 20 years of service in regulation, compliance, contract administration, and quality analysis. Her career is in academic research administration. She manages federal grants for scientific research projects at UCSD. Ms. Molina Lopez holds delegated authority, ensures compliance with federal, state, and University of California policies, and is a liaison between the institution and its funding agencies. Previously, she worked in biotech at Ajinomoto Althea Inc., as a technical proposal writer and in the manufacture of novel medicines for FDA clinical studies. Ms. Molina Lopez is a member of Hispanas Organized for Political Equality (HOPE). She is a 2017 HOPE Leadership Institute Fellow and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of California, Berkeley, in 2001. Ms. Molina Lopez was elected City Clerk of National City in November 2020. As City Clerk, Ms. Molina Lopez presides at her city’s public meetings as a compliance officer and works to inspire the public’s trust in local government.
Ms. Owens was appointed to the California Board of Accountancy in July 2020 by Governor Gavin Newsom. She has been a partner at KPMG LLP since 2015, where she was managing director and senior manager from 2007 to 2015. Ms. Owens is a member of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants, Information Systems Audit and Control Association, Los Angeles Institute of Internal Auditors, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, KPMG Network of Women, KPMG Pride Network, and KPMG Hispanic/Latino Network in Los Angeles.
Mr. Pe was appointed to the California Board of Accountancy in October 2019 by the Speaker of the Assembly. Mr. Pe possesses a unique combination of marketing and business experience formerly working in global marketing at Vans Shoe Co. Currently, Mr. Pe owns his own marketing and printshop in Lakewood, CA. Mr. Pe is also a dedicated member of his community serving in a number of roles such as Business Advisor with the Los Angeles Regional Small Business Development Center Network, Board Chair of the Lakewood YMCA, and Advisory Council Member for the Bellflower Unified School District Career Technical Education Program. Mr. Pe also serves on the Lakewood City Council, and is a member of the Long Beach City College Foundation Board, California Contract Cities Association, the Gateway Cities COG Board, and League of California Cities.
Ms. Robinson was appointed to the California Board of Accountancy in June 2015 by Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. Ms. Robinson, at the director level, developed and implemented activities to increase both efficiency and effectiveness in the delivery of academic degree programs and certifications with a focus on student and community engagement at Golden Gate University, University of Phoenix, John F. Kennedy University and Pacifica Graduate Institute. Ms. Robinson expands economic development opportunities within the private, non-profit, government and corporate sectors targeting local, regional, and international firms, community colleges and school districts that strive to address education and training needs in administrative leadership, strategic planning, development, implementation and evaluation for Entrepreneurship, Philanthropy, Business Innovation Curricula, and related programming. Ms. Robinson is a member of Society for Human Resource Management, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated; and former member of Golden Gate University Human Resource Management Advisory Committee, and CoachArt San Francisco Board. Ms. Robinson earned a Master of Science degree in human resource management from Golden Gate University, certification in Project Management from Sacramento State University and maintains a California Insurance License.
Ms. Salazar was appointed to the CBA in December 2012 by Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. and served as President from 2015-2016, Vice-President from 2014-2015, and Secretary/Treasurer from 2013-2014. In January 2018, she was elected Pacific Regional Director of the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy. Ms. Salazar currently serves as the Chief Financial Officer for the California Correctional Peace Officers Association. She has also served as the Executive Director of the Rotary Club of Sacramento, Chief Financial Officer at the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges and the American Red Cross Sacramento Sierra Chapter. Ms. Salazar previously held several positions in public accounting, including senior audit manager for Reznick Group, and has been an adjunct accounting professor for the Los Rios Community College District. Ms. Salazar is a member of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Ms. Tu was appointed to the CBA by the California State Senate Rules Committee in February 2020. Ms. Tu has been principal consultant and owner at Yen C. Tu Consulting for 20 years, a firm focused on providing community outreach services to ethnic / underrepresented communities to corporations, government, and non-profit organizations throughout San Diego. Ms. Tu is a Board Member for the San Diego Diplomacy Council and the Asian Business Association. She also serves as a Member of San Diego Mayor Faulconer’s Asian Advisory Council, San Diego Association of Governments’ (SANDAG) 2020 Census Count Workgroup, and the San Diego Community College District’s Oversight Committee. She served on the staff of two City of San Diego Councilmembers and one San Diego County Supervisor. Ms. Tu served as President and CEO for the Asian Business Association (1999-2004, 2011, and 2019), served on the Boards for the San Diego County Water Authority (2002-2017), University of California San Diego Chancellor’s Community Advisory Board (2013-2019), Metropolitan Water District of Southern CA (2014-2016), San Diego Gas and Electric’s Community Advisory Council (2010-2017), Japan Society of San Diego & Tijuana (2007-2012), and the Union of Pan-Asian Communities (2008-2013). Ms. Tu received her undergraduate degree in Chinese Studies at the University of California at San Diego in 1990.
Executive Officer for the CBA
Ms. Bowers was selected Executive Officer of the CBA in October 2008. A 23-year veteran of the CBA, she also served as supervisor in the Enforcement Division and Chief of the Licensing Division. Prior to joining the CBA, Ms. Bowers began her career in State civil service as a sworn Peace Officer with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, Division of Juvenile Justice. Prior to joining State civil service, she worked in Sicily as a supervisor for the U.S. Department of Defense, and she worked as an academic coordinator while attending the University of Maryland's European Division in Iceland.
